The Week Ahead

A busy week ahead with a number of duties in Parliament and events in the Constituency.

In Parliament, I’ll be replying to questions and amendments on the Government’s Immigration Bill as the proposed legislation continues its detailed scrutiny in committee.  I’ll be underlining how new measures around rented property and simple checks to be conducted by landlords will help ensure that properties are only let to those with the right to be in this country as well as providing additional steps to root out rogue landlords. The committee sits for morning and afternoon sessions on Tuesday and Thursday.

I’ll be unveiling the new design for the passport with additional features to combat fraud and enhance security.

On Friday morning I’ll be hosting an MP ‘McSurgery’ at McDonalds on Sidcup High Street.  If you want to speak to me about any local issues or concerns, you can find me there between 10 and 11am. Do drop by.  I’ll also be holding my regular constituency advice surgery and you can book an appointment by calling 020 7219 8400 or you can email contact@jamesbrokenshire.com.

Next Sunday is Remembrance Sunday when we come together as a community to remember those who gave their lives in conflict.  It remains as important today as ever to remember all those who served in our armed services and paid the ultimate price to defend our country and the freedoms we hold dear.  In the morning I will be attending the Remembrance Service in Sidcup and laying a wreath at the Sidcup War Memorial.  In the afternoon I will be joining the Mayor of Bexley at the East Wickham & Welling Festival of Remembrance.

We must never forget.
