The Managing Director of Southeastern Trains, David Statham, has replied on recent poor performance and concerns raised by James in his recent letter.
In Southeastern’s response, Mr Statham acknowledged issues with performance on the Metro network, particularly on the Sidcup line. His response, which you can read below, detailed the measures the company is taking to improve the technical performance of its fleet of trains, reduce the impact of staffing issues and improve training for drivers and station staff.
James has already arranged to meet again with senior management at Southeastern to impress on them the need to take immediate action to address the recurring reliability issues on local train services.
Commenting James said:
“There are some clear performance issues across the Metro network and nowhere more acutely than on the Sidcup line. Whilst I appreciate the challenge of turning performance around quickly and at a time where the weather can present a challenge, time is running out for Southeastern and they need to respond decisively to the issues that my constituents continue to raise with me to deliver real improvements in the service they provide.”
