Radiotherapy Boost for Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup

Commenting on the news that a preferred bidder has been selected to provide a new radiotherapy facility for cancer treatment based at Queen Mary's Hospital, Old Bexley and Sidcup MP James Brokenshire said:

"This is absolutely great news in improving access to cancer care for people in this area. I've pressed for quite some time for Bexley patients to be able to receive radiotherapy treatment closer to home without having to travel up to central London. I'm delighted that this important new unit gives effect to this with Queen Mary's providing cancer care for patients from Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

"This is a significant development for the future of Queen Mary's. The news of the new radiotherapy unit gives a clear statement of intent and commitment to continuing high quality care at Queen Mary's. I hope this will now inject further pace into the work on broader plans for our local hospital."
