Queen Mary’s Cancer Centre hits the big screen

James Brokenshire has featured in a new video promoting the construction of the new Cancer Centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital which is currently being shown on the large screens at Bexleyheath Shopping Centre and online.

The film, commissioned by Oxleas NHS Trust, the owner of the Queen Mary’s site, highlights the important difference having the cutting edge new centre will make to local cancer patients. Importantly, those receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy will, from 2016, no longer have to travel into Central London for their treatment, but can instead be cared for on their doorstep.

Commenting on the release of the video, James said:

“It was an honour to be asked to appear on the video for the new Cancer Centre. After many years of pushing for it, it is a privilege to be able to watch the structure begin to rise out of the ground. This new facility will be a lifeline for cancer patients in Sidcup and across Bexley and I cannot wait for it to open its doors and begin its important work.”
