James Brokenshire has received a letter from the Post Office about the transfer of Post Office services in Blendon to another site nearby. Following a public consultation held earlier this year, the new Post Office will open on Tuesday 13 June 2017 at Premier, Sherwood Park Avenue, offering similar services and extended opening hours.
The change comes as part of a wider, modernisation process being carried out by the Post Office, designed to provide customers with Post Office services in accessible and convenient locations and over extended opening hours. The new Post Office in Blendon will be open from 6am to 10pm every day, with the majority of services on offer at the current site continuing.
During the consultation, some concerns were raised by local residents around parking and access to the new location over the busy Penhill Road and Blackfen Road. In order to address these concerns, the new operator of the Post Office has pledged to approach Bexley Council in order to ask them to assess the possibility of light-controlled pedestrian crossings. In addition, the Post Office has stressed the parking available just outside and the accessibility of the new location on local bus routes, including the 132 and the B13.
The new Post Office will open at Premier, 242 Sherwood Park Avenue, Sidcup, Kent DA15 9JN at 1pm on Tuesday 13 June.
