Friday 18 May James Brokenshire MP visited the Bexley branch of Diabetes UK at St John’s Church Hall, Sidcup, to join in their raffle and cake sale to raise funds for local Diabetes support activities.
Diabetes UK Bexley joined the St John’s Church ‘Busy Bee’ morning for mums and toddlers to raise awareness of Diabetes risks to young people. Diabetes UK estimates that more than 85% of children and young people over the age of 12 have blood glucose levels higher than normal and in 2010 only 4% of children had their regular check up.
James said “The work which the Bexley branch of Diabetes UK does is fantastic and they offer real support to people with Diabetes living in the borough. Diabetes in children is an increasingly important issue and raising awareness will help ensure more families receive for support and care they need”
