Guidance for constituents during James' period of absence

Friday, 15 January, 2021

Unfortunately, James is currently on leave from work to receive treatment for a tumour on this lung. During this period of absence, this office will continue to seek to provide support for pressing casework enquiries for constituents, although you should read the following information.

If you are a constituent who has a casework enquiry:

Please ensure that you have included your full name and address as no emails will be answered without these details. Please re-send your email with your address to contact@jamesbrokenshire.com

The team will respond to enquiries from constituents within 14 days. If you are a constituent and have not received a response within this time, please do contact us again.

If you are a constituent who has a policy enquiry

There is a limit to the responses that can be provided on broader questions of policy or Government decision making.  Responses may be limited to providing links to factual information or Government guidance and statements but will not be able to provide a view on James’s views on decisions taken.

As with casework enquiries, please ensure that you have included your full name and address as no emails will be answered without these details. Please re-send your email with your address to contact@jamesbrokenshire.com

If you are not a constituent or are contacting about James’ Ministerial role:

A Member of Parliament is only able to take up matters on behalf of their constituents. Therefore, if James is not your MP you will need to approach your representative. If you are unsure who your MP is, you can check using the following link https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/

Should your enquiry relate to James’s role as Security Minister, please contact the Home Office directly for the attention of James’ separate civil service team as this office is unable to assist with enquiries of this nature.

Yours sincerely,

Office of Rt. Hon James Brokenshire MP
