James Brokenshire joined the Mayor of Bexley, the Leader of the Council and officers of the Sidcup & Footscray Royal British Legion at a special Remembrance Sunday Event arranged by the London Borough of Bexley at the Sidcup War Memorial to remember all those who gave their lives for us. The event was livestreamed to enable people to watch from home and was organised in accordance with public health requirements.
Later James accompanied the Mayor of Bexley as he laid a wreath at the War Memorial in Bexley Village. James also had the privilege of reading some of the names of the fallen as part of a pre-recorded service of remembrance arranged by the East Wickham & Welling War Memorial Trust.
Commenting, James said:
“It remains just as important now as ever to remember all those who served our country and paid the ultimate price so that we can enjoy the freedoms we do. I am pleased and grateful to our local community for arranging powerful and poignant remembrance proceedings whilst ensuring they complied with public health requirements and enabling local residents to watch from home.”
