James Brokenshire has welcomed news that a Bexley bus service is to offer an extended Sunday service. Transport for London has announced plans to improve the B12 bus route on Sundays by extending services to Joydens Wood after a long-running community campaign.
The proposals for the B12 would provide a new half hourly service on Sundays for Joydens Wood and Coldblow. Services from Erith would run clockwise round the Joydens Wood loop before noon and then anticlockwise as on other days of the week. The plans have been put out to public consultation, but could be introduced as soon as the end of April.
Local campaigners have been pressing TfL to introduce a Sunday bus link for Coldblow and Joydens Wood for a number of years. Calls to add the Sunday services have been supported by the Coldblow Residents Association, Bexley Council, London Assembly Member James Cleverly and James Brokenshire. Commenting James said:
"I'm delighted that TfL has now responded positively to calls from the community to introduce Sunday services on the full B12 route. It will significantly improve access for a part of Bexley that doesn't currently have any public transport available on Sundays. This news is a great credit to the Coldblow Residents Association and everyone who has doggedly campaigned for this change over a number of years."
