I recognise the reliance people place on being able to access the services of the Post Office in Bexley Village – especially following the loss of Barclays Bank. I am therefore concerned over its temporary closure and the continued disruption and uncertainty this is causing to local residents. I have been in regular contact with the Post Office to underline the importance of the Post Office to the Village and the need for urgent steps to be taken to see that services are maintained.
The Post Office have since advised me that the closure is temporary following the resignation of the previous Post Master and active steps are currently being taken to identify a suitable replacement. Various checks have to be undertaken to ensure that any new potential operator has a viable and sustainable business plan to host the Post Office in Bexley Village.
I will continue to press the Post Office to ensure my constituents’ voice is heard and to seek assurance that the re-opening of the Post Office in Bexley Village remains a priority.
